I pretty much just do a couple Underworld smite runs everytime I play GW. I don't really need money anymore, but I just do them for fun and getting an ecto is just a nice surprise. It's also more of a challenge now that they nerfed some skills.

I am so glad to hear that, all that tedious farming is over. I can just get a collector weapon. Man if I only would have known this sooner.
Dude, it's always been that way. The game has never been about uber weapons.

Apparently you didn't realize I was being sarcastic. Point is we dont need someone to come into a thread about farming with some revelation about the fact that we don't need to farm

that is IDIOTIC, we do it because we want to.

If i could give any advice i would say.

Dont ever give up on the monk. (it will always be the best and most versitile farmer)

Dont be afraid to 2 or even 3 man farming areas.

Dont farm uw or fow anymore (there are so much more productive places to make money)

Sure ecto in uw is great. but the drop rates are horrible and due to the whole "pull small when in mele" ai changes. you will either pull small and take a while.. or pull big and sit for even longer because the baddies go at you in shifts...

Average return from farming underworld is one or two ecto and about 1-2k in drops per run... a run can span from 10-30 minutes depending on your build and target monsters. so lets say per run you can make about 6k... so lets just round that to 7k in 20 min average.. sure sometimes more and sometimes less.. but this is a good generous average...

In some nightfall spots you can average 5k in 20 minutes and often get good runs at about 10-15k in 20 minutes. Not to mention that you hold a much better chance of getting rare items points for titles if you need them.

But the best piece of advice i can give you is this.. the flavor of the week is not always the best way to cash in... Farm everything and everywhere. if you really enjoy farming. it is not the money that draws you into a spot.. its the idea of having fun and doing somthing that has not been done before.

There is a farming guide on these forums for a monk in nightfall that when modified and combined with a partner... you can duo from kamadan all the way up untill the gates of desolation and beyond..

Dont ever limit yourself to a few overused spots for farming.

A good note is also this.... for the most part prophecies is mostly mele.. so the new ai changes affect it the most. Nightfall however seems to be specifically designed to allow for massive pulls with as small a number of mele in the groups as possible..

In nightfall pulls of 20+ baddies can have as few as 4 mele baddies in them... this makes for super fast farms.

This game was made to be farmed... they just make it hard to do.. and that is what can be fun and rewarding also.

In the end i say. find some good friends and farm with them.. because no matter what you do it will always be fun with friends. and you will become rich much faster than if you had been alone.

I dont care what anyone says about what genre the game falls into. No hero will ever account for the company and humor of a good friend farming partner.. I dont care how many times you can flag your heros away to get extra loot.

YOU REALLY CANNOT PUT A PRICE ON FRIENDSHIP.

Dude your multiplication is waaaay wrong ... 4 runs an hour @ 4k = 16k ... not as good as the 60k you originally thought

I find the best way to get $$$'s is smite runs in the UW and sell the ecto's + chest drops if your lucky. Can do 2 - 4 runs an hours once you get into the zone. Best money that I've found so far...

You don't run 1 person at a time - he has allowed 15mins/hr to advisertise and get clients together. 4x3x5=60k/hr.

Farming-wise. I like the dragon roots outside st angelica's shrine - you can easily do 30 runs an hour at 1-2k each.

My guess is that he's running 5 clients each time, not one by one.........

In any case, most droks runners would be lucky to get 5 clients within 15 mins (pop into beacons and see how long the runners spam). So more like 2 runs in an hr. And pray that there are no afkers or scammers.......

Ele smite run can tank any number of smites, and once properly pinned against a wall/ledge, everything dies in one combo. Over large number of runs, I find the ecto drop rate to be consistently 3-4 ecto every 5 runs.

Nevertheless, quoted for truth:

I've SS for some 55s who ended up being good friends. I doubt Olias and I share much interest despite having him on my team for most missions!

Ok, Im also thinking about finally getting nightfall (it seems im starting to enjoy some gw now and then again), however Im not interested at all in groups, ie, i luv solo..

and then i keep hearing "zomg, its so hard, u cant solo anything", which i dont really believe, but anyway, just wanting to ask, is it really that hard/bad? that domain of torment thingie sounds ok? can u take at least heros with u there?

tho I did say i aint gonna give anet more money

PS. well if i keep getting code 13 Im not gonna buy it for sure :x

Farming is pretty much dead in Tyria. FoW/UW is a nice source of income, but Europe is a favor hog as any American would know.

My reccomendations:
-You make a lot of money just playing through the game. My mes did some missions in maguuma and made an easy 10k just from the drops.

-New UW. I got in an awesome B/P group today, scored an ecto, Kole's Torment, a black dye, 700g from gold drops being split among the party, and a few more platinum worth of the other items.

-Running! If you have a ranger or warrior, nice way to make quick money if you have the time to master it.

-Troll Farming. It's one of the farming spots ANet doesn't care about enough to nerf. You make modest income (1-2k per run, each run ranges from 5-10 minutes). Just search for it, you can find guides to it everywhere.

Deleted some spam. If you're just going to brag about getting money and not sharing how you got it, don't post.

Currently i've been farming zelnehlun, can make 20-30k for a few runs with a few golds and even got 3 black dyes today. You can't sell the greens though, can barely even give them away, trust me I tried heh.
I want to do more UW/FOW or even DoA, but most groups want experiented players but I havn't really had the chance to get that yet

That's what I do for my main income. But I'm going to try to figure out how to farm the thornroots because that sounds like a better income.

Right now, I farm zehnelhuns mob for drops (drops give 800 gold + in an average 3 minute run plus the usual chest) and uw with my tank, because it's too damn hard to farm it with my ele. Somehow I keep messing up, and dying

So I used my tank and it's just as fast if you can do it right.

Well, I don't know about anyone else but I'm farming Hydras off Augery Rock in Prophecies. Go ahead and call me a nub, I make about 2k+ a run, But I madea costom build for it which youc an't find on the internet, and its much faster then the ones you can. So I make about 10k an hour.

LMAO! Trolls got nerfed, the tusks aren't worth anything and they don't really drop other stuff. 1-2k per run bahahahaha.

Sooooo.... 10k an hour you say? lol...

I can make about 30-50k (depends on golds) in an hour off zehnelhuns. I usually don't because I get to the point of making 5k and saying, hey I wonder if that mission has people in it now...

But anyways..

Is this the all golds and grapes awesome dragon moss farm people are talking about? Because I ran about 8-9 and this is probably the best drop. I didn't ever get a grape or gold, so I think this farm is pretty worthless.

EDIT:
oh yeah, fergot to say that screen took the time of casting enchants, running to mosses, and one SoJ charge. So I guess it's short, but still not enough profit.

He talks bullshit, Hydras, Minotaurs, Trolls don't drop that good loot like he describes.

Btw, your drops won't get better if you do that run over and over again.

I earned my money in the beginning by
buying and selling wood =) -> farming items (aka griffins or uw) -> farming greens -> now its "free chests" and event trading =/ i'm to lazy to farm nowadays. i have a load of money so i dont really care lol. i could of made 3 mill i think in the winter thing (2 mill minus the 1 mill expense) but i stayed with keeping some of the items instead (cause i had no money room).

Chests and golds (i usually keep or sell to merchents =/ too lazy to sell to people)

not quick enough with the event trading, horrible luck with UW/FoW drops, and not very good with selling things so no power trading for me. Event trading got me a 15k set, selling a stack of wintergreen CC for 60k, but right now I"m back to farming things. Working on a build to farm outside of mihanu township (lots of chests round there and you get 7 sunspear pts per kill). Otherwise I make some chump change off quests, vermin, trolls if im bored, kappa (hoping for that jade sword/longbow for my toons), and ice imps outside of grotto (1.5k+ with good chance for gold and chest off run).
